Since 1986, they have organized the Corporate Challenge campaign every year to raise funds that give people with financial or social difficulties chances to take outward bound course.
The half-day campaign gathers teams representing Hong Kong’s leading companies to compete in a series of games specially designed for fun and team building.
Our R&D Engineer Charles Chu from Vincent Medical had participated in the Outward Bound Corporate Challenge these 2 years and is the captain for the association’s team [Hong Kong Medical & Healthcare Device Industries Association Limited (HKMHDIA)].
The whole association’s team consists of 19 members in which Vincent Medical has 5 participants. The event held in CUHK Chinese University of Hong Kong on Nov 13.
In one game, we need to uphold a 2m height plastic tube filled with toy ducks, some members need to use their bodies and hands to cover up the holes on the tube while the others fill up the tube with water in order to surface the ducks out of the tube within 6 minutes.
Game details usually disclosed 1 month before the event through a briefing by the organizer, so teams can discuss the strategy and practice in advance. The captain need to attend the briefing, arrange pre-game practices, and lead the team during the event.
These two years we have smart members in the team, the caption’s role is a coordinator to communicate between them and decide the best way to go. Many of the members are busy for daily work, but they still spare their time to support the activity by contributing their ideas and do their best in the game.
The experienced gained last year allows us to have better pre-game preparation and performance in the event day, leading to the better results. This year we are the champion in the mixed plate category and the first runner-up in the manufacturing division of the industrial division cup. Also, according to the announced results, we are actually the overall second runner-up! |
